Cloud Computing

Lawson fully embraces the cloud computing model. Our Cloud Services makes it easier to buy, install, use, manage, maintain, upgrade and even pay for Lawson’s latest releases of full-function enterprise software.

But what exactly is cloud computing? It is a relatively new technology concept that represents the convergence of three major trends:

  1. Internet/broadband - Internet access has gotten simple, widespread and fast
  2. Virtualization - applications can be easily separated from infrastructures
  3. Utility computing - server capacity is accessed across a grid as a variably-priced shared service

Together these components form a solution that allows any software to be accessed from anywhere and used by anyone, on an infrastructure that is owned and managed somewhere else. In other words, companies can take advantage of software applications without having to install them on their in-house computers or servers.

Cloud computing is extremely cost effective, because participants only pay for the resources they use. This pay-as-you-go feature is the hallmark of today’s cloud computing. Additional features include:

  • Flexible computing capacity
  • Complete off-premises management
  • Subscription pricing for cloud services offerings, in some cases
  • New way to test software before buying
